Just a Quick Reminder About Kiosks, Pay Phones, and ATMs.

I didn't do it.
There I go, hanging out in the real world, again.

For those of you who may not be aware, most computer kiosks, pay phones (no one uses them), and even ATMs (no one uses them either, right?) run Windows. Some run a version called Windows Embedded. There are a LOT of devices out there that use WindowsXP Embedded. These are basically just stripped down versions of the original operating systems. Because who needs Windows Media Player on an ATM anyway? (Or in general?)

A Word on Metadata

Collect and store ALL THE DATA/SIGNALS!

With all of this NSA stuff going on recently, it may be a bit much to take in all at once. Let's take a moment and go way back to the week before PRISM broke. Let's go back to the Verizon story. Verizon was told to give the NSA "Metadata" of all the call records anyone made.

Denver International Airport

I dropped my phone one too many times.
Yet another kiosk exploration. My friend's flight was delayed about a year ago. So what is someone like me to do? EXPLORE.
Just outside the "Denver Welcome/Info Area" or whatever it's called. I noticed a kiosk. What caught my eye first was the Internet Explorer 404 page.
I just couldn't resist. Please forgive the old blurry photos.

A lesson on taking me in public.

IRLDOSSAYWHA?
So this is why you just can't take me anywhere in public.
I get bored, stare at something electronic, and have this urge to see if I can break it. I call this, IRLDOS. At first glance, the term may remind you of "In Real Life Disk Operating System," which would send shivers down anyone's spine. Not to worry, as this is not the case. This is just a little fun down at the local Target store.

This is instead me trying to see if I can break it, and if I can, see what else I can do with it.

Most see price a checking thingy-ma-bob, I see a toy.
